The Spider

Damn you for your judging me
When you've a blood stained sleeve.
How can you accuse me so
When you began this fight?
How can you descend so low
Instead of put things right?
Damn you for befriending me
For now you just deceive.

Damn you for the souless cries
With which you would bereave
Others of their happiness
If you were not so fake.
God, if you would just confess...
It's more than I can take.
Damn you for the web of lies
You've made yourself believe!

I know exactly how you feel, love. I understand the issues at hand, and I commend your skill. I think that you did a very good job with this poem, and I love the second stanza, and the last two lines really made a good ending. My heart goes out to you. I also loved how you chose an easy rhythm to go with, one that flows well and is just.. all over pleasing to hear. :3

A very emotive and strong piece of poetry. Brilliantly written. It is awful when people are treated this badly. A heartfelt poem full of depth. Great piece.

  • Oh, the feelings that this poem has dug up out of the pit I try to keep closed. So many times have I went through this, and I just have recently actually... I hate people who seem to get in your life just to end up ruining it, and I'd damn them too.

This is a great write and I definitely can relate to it. Hope things get better for you.

    Muavaise Foi!

Ohh...an excellent accusation of bad faith! How can they believe a lie they tell themsevles? It makes no sense, they can't even be honest with themselves, which makes everythng they do and say a lie as well. Once again I am reminded of another philosophical author.

John-Paul Sartre popularized the concept of Bad Faith. He called it a double nihilation. First you had to deny a truth in general, and then you have to deny it to yourself. It isn't even a lie! A liar is consciousness (of) lying. But one in bad faith has surrounded a truth with nothingness, and surrounded themselves with another nothingness. They probably aren't even consious of their denial and subsequent deception! But, now if there is bad faith, what is the opposite of bad faith?

It isn't good faith, but rather authenticity. Not "keeping it real", but an unflinching honesty with oneself. He believed bad faith was unavoidable. Certainly at least one of his contemporaries would have agreed (namely Camus).
The only way to break free from bad faith in Sartre's opinion was to constantly make a choice of being who one is. How is this done? Camus really hit the nail on the head with his conception of revolt. All revolt is is simply consiously and continually putting yourself and the world in question. Once you know what you are choosing, then you choose your choice. This opens up an entire world of possiblilities. Different possibles for you to choose from as far as the eye can see is what you are left with. Choose carefully though. Life under this philosophy makes every choice count as if your life depends on it...because it does. Your choice now creates your next "jumping off point" to your next choice, your next you. More of something to think about, or possibly even talk about to your friend who is caught in the trap of bad faith.

More nuggets of philosophy. Keep up your track of writing poems like this. I rather enjoy imparting these ideas. Brava, Madame Fro!
