The Window

When you return to me, my love
I will be waiting
By the window

I know you always want it closed
But somehow I know
That you're here

The shutters are busted, falling off
It's rusty and old
Nearly ancient

It screeches when you push it back
And desperately cries
Out in sorrow

I couldn't close it if I wanted
Because this window
Holds a promise

So long ago, when you were here
A vow from us both
Me and you

"I shall return," you said that day
And quietly left
Without a trace

"I'll be waiting," I replied
Did you hear me, love?
I wonder...

The promise that I hold so dear
I pray that you still
Remember

When you return to me, my love
I will be waiting
By the window.

Author notes

I've been trying to get this thing out of my head for ages. I don't know what it is really, aside from very boring writing...I'm sorry! I suspect it's about a woman whose husband went to war, but like in the InuYasha world. I don't know! xD Let me know what you think.

  • I totally love this sis. I think it can be about a lot of things. But it's definitely not boring. Reminds me of my boyfriend and I. Except I'm the one that leaves him by going off to college while he stays in our hometown. I imagine that he waits for me like this... *sigh* Great write. Keep up the good work. Love ya, sis!

It sounds interesting, and can relate to a woman who has lost her husband, and only holds onto the promise of his return. The ending was tied up well, but I believe that if you ever think of revising it, you should put what this person has left for/ to.
