An ashen veil swirled,
covering golden globe
hanging cold within
a pearly sky,
as skeletal limbs
reached out,
shadows of their
former selves.
Their torso's anchored
within frozen patchwork
shades of glistening brown.
Waiting, longing
to feel the warmth
spring offers.
Begging to be,
once again adorned
in their full regalia.

Wonderful imagery here. Very cold and dark feeling I got from this piece Sugar. Your imagery here is really something else. Great writing here.

DAMN, THOSE TREES LOOK COLD ENOUGH TO SHIVER!
Waiting, longing
to feel the warmth
spring offers.
Begging to be,
once again adorned
in their full regalia.
Precisely, Baby! Spring beats winter anytime. When it comes to trees Id rather see them fully dressed than naked. This picture reminds me of what I've been dealing with and seeing too much of lately - frost, ice, and snow - and looks like the park I enjoy walking in in the spring, summer, and fall. GOOD LUCK in this contest with this wonderful (and bitter cold) piece.
Peace & Love!
Earl.

There is something quite eerie about trees in winter, my fave time of year is when the flowers are just coming, the trees are getting there first burst of fresh green, and then the smell of grass has it is cut, that first cut you can't beat(unless you have hayfever) tells you summer is just around the corner.
As always hon, your comments are always valued and appreictated.
Love you Chelle xxx

Brrr, sug this made me shiver. I liked the title to this, I often think they look dead in winter even though they are living, and they do look like their branches are reaching out begging for the spring to bring them back to their former glory. A beautiful write your words painted the picture well.
All the best
Emma

Beautiful imagery describing winter plight of the tree. Do trees have memories? I wonder...if so, they are awaiting the green peace of Spring.
Well done, Michelle, another excellent write by you.
I love you,
