Webmd said that twenty Aspirin was enough
To kill a one hundred and twenty pound woman
I bought a bottle of extra strength Aspirin
I weighed a grand total of ninety two pounds
The pills rattled around in the bottle
As my heart rattled around in my chest
Carefully I uncapped the top of the bottle
The voices in my head were loud and demanding
They begged me to go faster to swallow them all
My hand was shaking hard as I undid the cap
On the bottle of blue flavored powerade
he blue kind had always been my favorite
I swallowed the first five pills all at once
The bitter powedery texture lingered
In my mouth as I prepared the next five
Thirty pills later the voices were still demanding
That I swallow more of the powdery white Aspirin
After forty five I could feel the pills churning inside
I managed five more and then capped both bottles
I was shaking and shivering all over from the weight
Of what I had just done to myself and my family
Images of my parents at my funeral flashed by
I felt tears welling up from deep within me
Now that i had done what the voices had wanted
All that was left in my head were my own thoughts
And all my thoughts were of terror and fear of death
With shaking hands I pulled out my cell phone
My fingers vibrated as i dialed three numbers
I told the dispatcher I needed an ambulance
Then I sank back into the pillows of my bed
It was too soon for me I wasn't going to die
I wasnt going to let the voices steal my life
