Below, He Sleeps

blackened capillaries forked neat.
frost restrains dark dormant branches,
strident tines against brume's bed sheet.
rasping raucous, grating deep chill,
leaving not one hanging spore sac-
obscured below earth's stark stand still
passion's tirade can't be called back.
livened only through spring's new quill
fallow it sleeps now, thoughts pitch black.
pullulated, it will swell soon-
turn seasoned shoot, waits breath of bud.

lover's shy music, draws its' tune-
inflamed enzyme's eager new spud.

  • This is an awesome poem. I liked the metaphors you used. I think you are writing about a flower or something lying in dormant until the cold is gone. I enjoyed the read!!! Thank you for entering my contest.

I felt like a maiden in the times of the rennaisance when I was reading this haha! I love how my entire world changed scenery and location just by your poem! This poem was very moving and I enjoyed the short vacation from my life to enter the life of your poem. Great writing!

Oh, what a mind you have!

You see, you are an actual poet, whereas I put words together for fun. To see what they will do for me. But you have a mystical way of decribing primal forces. It's not an overstatement to say you are on the level with Poe. I'm happy for your ability but jealous at the same time.
You should have been an English professor.
