Simply, as a child yearns for comfort,
I wallow in the embers of last night.
A warm euphoria wraps its arms
around me and holds fast the tendrils
of satiation left in your absence.
A cry, a thorn, pierces the quiet
driving the ambiance into the corners;
A sketch of peace, distorted by
the exhibition of off-handed romance
floods my mind and causes pain.
If stared at long enough,
the peripheral thoughts permeating
the event melt like moths in the daylight,
becoming a canvas left in the gutter.
All things are relative.
And so, I stand the guardian
of those invisible to love.
As I yawn a prayer of cessation,
falling sands emulate an opiate
that will never satisfy.
