god how I've loved you...
some days
I can barely say your name
others
your name is all I mention
and I cry every night
when your not here
I hug the pillow next to me
for its the only thing that comforts me
during those lonely nights
when I wake up and turn towards you
you aren't there
just like before
and its been so hard
realizing over and over that you are not coming back
the tears have dried up
there are no more
but yet they find moments to sneak out
leaving makeup trails down my checks
but at least you can wipe those away
unlike my memories....
of you

my dad helped w/ the title after I read him this, and it brought back memories of his gf way back in the day ^_^ My dad turned 60 last Sept. Inspired by actual personal events, and also inspired by a movie.

Love the play on words in the title, a light twist to help throw a slightly tart edge on what otherwise is a quite sad write... (Not that that's bad, it's just a lovely juxtaposition [in this humble poet's opinion])
And the rest of the emotion really comes out well, not so much bitter as merely nostalgic... (Now I'm completely in response mode, sorry if that's read wrong)
But really, loved it: great job! (And now I'm the one not shutting up...) It's nice to hear from you again...
Peace,
Matt
