Gypsy Dancer

Swaying with the breeze of time
her heart beat keeps the rhythm
Watchers stare, throw her dimes
She will never dance with them

The keeper of her soul is the wind
and her heart belongs to no one
Her laughter, may it never end
keep her memory safe from harm

She dances through my dreams
and throughout her shines the sun
Her black hair, how it gleams!
like feathers of the mighty raven

What is freedom if not your own
its tales glisten like rare gold
May your heart always be home
ever have your truth be told!

I totally agree with the comment below. This poem is so close to perfection in my eyes. The imagery was fantastic and really brought your words to life, conjouring vivid detail in my mind.

    Fantastic write.
  • Very old world and balladesque.

I found therhythem, the imagery, and the musicality of this piece very appealing. The words rolleed together with an easy grace indicative of the dancer portrayed so artfully within. I did not understand to whom the piece was addressed. Were you talking to the reader, the girl, yourself, or perhaps all three? Well done.
