Plea

You say you will return
the drums of war sound
Why can't we run away
let someone else be brave.

    What a great take on the prompt... I didn't see it but you took that step to the side and illuminated meaning that blind eyes couldn't see. A terrific interpretation!

    I think many of us feel this way, why can it not be someone ELSE? Awesome, though over 10 words

    Excellent!

    This, my dear Ed, is excellent writing. I can see why you chose this direction based on the picture prompt: she looks rather forlorn, as though seeing a loved one off to war; which is never easy. It's as though you got into her head and read her pained thoughts. Of course, you did go over the 10-word limit.

    If you were to shorten this, how about: "You say you will return. Can't another be brave?"

    Still, I love it just as it stands and would love to see it garner the gold!

    Luv & hugs, SisBon

    Beautiful Words

    You have captured the essence of the picture quite well. A face seen on too many lately as their loved one goes off to war. Wonderful imagery. Alot said in a few words. A delight to read this morning. You take care.

    Hugs and Smiles,
    Sandy

  • Lovely but I think you went over the 10 word limit

      Yep that's me, backwards. In this case I read the directions backward. It was twenty poets and ten words, not twenty words and ten poets. Well, alack and alas.
