As the sun rises and a brand new day dawns
I look at my child as she stretches and yawns.
Today marks the start of a journey begun.
Unaware, of all that there is to be done.
I drive her to school and play her favorite song.
Then I explain that the first day might feel long.
My heart feels heavy as I watch her today.
I give in to tears as I’m driving away.
God, will you watch her as she learns and she plays?
Please will you guide her, and show her the right ways?
And dear God, please comfort her if she would cry?
For now I am too far to wipe those tears dry.
I know in our lives there is much to endure.
So as she grows up, please God, hold her secure!

I love your rhyme and flow,
but whats most apparent here
is your love, the prayers of a mother
never go unnoticed,
this is just lovely!

This is really sweet. I pray for my son to be safe all day long (even though I'm with him all day.) I really liked this, I think this one deserved the gold! Congrats on the bronze trophy! Keep up your amazing work.

Awww........ this is so touching. I can hardly wait for my daughter's first day of school, she's so smart and she's going to love it, but I'm going to miss her like crazy as I'm sure all mothers do. Great write and I love the pic and the background as well.

A lovely poem that brings back some 46 years to my first day of school. Of course by the time I went my mom had already sent 5 off before me so that "those new mother worries weren't there. She just packed me on the bus with my sister and off I went with no fanfare whatsoever...yes, I think that it traumatized me, lol
Just being silly. Your poem was wonderful to read. It's always nice to read that bond between parent and child.

It is a sublime privilege to feel the scent of Your poetic garden – and admire the flowers whose petals enchant the bees and hummingbirds of the forest of my mind and heart – diffusing perfume of creativity, knowledge, wisdom and beauty.

Aneka ...
Your photo is ADORABLE. I love it VERY much XXX Aunty Myra -
Precious and Beautiful Mommy ...
Know that Aneka has her own Guardian Angel, and NO MATTER WHAT she has to handle, God will be there for her to carry her burdens. AND: you too will be at her side, for you are within her heart forever!
May your little girl have a wondrous learning experience on her journey through life. Enjoy every moment with her! It is a great privilege to be a mommy and also for her to be in a Christian school.

A most precious poem
The Lord hears your prayer, He will grant you your hearts desire....
This poem really speaks to me as a parent. The fear i have deep down inside of me, that "something" might happen to my child! I know i have no grounds for feeling like this because He holds all those that precious to Him in a secure and loving embrace!
Well written, a real jewel of poetry (and parenting), I applaude you!
NS: I feel like this everyday i take my eldest daughter to school...silly me!

Ok! Now you made me cry too! This is a sonnet that you simply MUST keep safe in a book somewhere. This well written sonnet is better than a photograph and Aneka will cherrish it when she grows older. "older" now that's a scary thought. You are a model for the perfect mother and you have no idea how much I look up to you for that.
Love,
Amera♥

Mother's anxiety
Mother's mind is well depicted in the poem. Do not worry she will take care of herself, since in everybody God is present.

Having read this, I can see a few tears needing wiped at home aswell. This prayer is just outstanding. Full of the purest love for your daughter, and looking only for the gentle caring of of her through these new found days to come from up on high. Simply a great prayer and one we could all use for our children when away from home. Well done.
