People always say
A boy and a girl
Can’t be
“Just friends”
Although they may well be correct
And at one point the boy may fall for the girl
Or the girl
May fall for the boy
What they never warn you
Is how a friendship you cherish so deeply
Once blossomed into something more
Can never be brought back
They don’t tell you
How after a relationship fails
The phrase “we can be friends” which was once so true
Is not true in the slightest anymore
And maybe we should start to accept
The fact that some friendships are best
Untouched and un-ruined
Because once turned into a relationship, that friendship is gone forever.

Well writtin.. i do think that a good friend is worth more than gold or silver....
-
you know this true to a certain extent. because this girl and i was BEST friends for 5 years, kick it for about a year. it didn't work. but we still BEST friends til this day. so it really comes down to strength and patience. but its easier said than done

I so get this... First friendship... then lovers. You can never ever get just a friendship back after a relationship fails. Good write. Thanks for sharing this.

Beautiful take on the prompt. Every male friend I have now I have fallen for in some way or form, even though I am taken. And with my exes, once we broke up, nothing was the same. So I can really relate to this poem you wrote. Good luck in the contest.

Hmm, I like this. It's got a great moral in it, though I don't completely agree with the last line. It's true for most relationships but not all, in my opinion. But that's just an opinion, and completely uninvolved in the commenting of this poem.
You took a wonderful route with the prompt, and I thank you for that.
My favorite part is definitely:
"What they never warn you
Is how a friendship you cherish so deeply
Once blossomed into something more
Can never be brought back"
It just hit me the hardest, for some reason. But as I said it's a well written poem.
Thanks for entering, and good luck
