Once in My LIfe

Once in my life
I lived in a valley of green
Where flowers blooms in blankets of color
Where the sun shined so bright
And the nights were still warm

Once in my life
I danced without care
The breeze was my dancing partner
And my feet never touched the ground

But as I aged
So did my life
And everything changed
Things started to fade away
To shrivel and die

The valley isn't green anymore
Just a golden, amber brown
The flowers have long since gone
And clouds now fill the sky

I haven't danced, except inside my heart
And the breeze is now harsh and cold
I tread now on frozen cold ground
My blanket now angel white snow

Once in my life
I lived a dream
One that not many get to see

Now that dream has ended
And reality has set
To leave me in this state of shock

But in the course of time
Life lives on
After the one before has died

May the one that comes after me
Finds her own valley of green
Where flowers bloom in blankets of color
Where the sun shined so bright
And the nights were just as warm

May she dance without care
With the breeze as her dance partner
And her feet never touch the ground

May her dream be her reality
And her dance partner be the one of her heart.
May she never know the pain
That Life is known to give

May she always know happiness
May her own life be filled with nothing but joy
And may her soul never die.
