Upon this hallowed earth,
this dais of vow
where our forbearer’s hearts
pledged their lives
for the preservation in liberty’s resound,
we celebrate democracy’s rebirth
under a new centurion
of our constitution’s cherished frame.
A knight and warrior in a different hue,
who comes to herald our declaration
that this day we proclaim
equality in our realm
more than an ideal,
it is the bedrock path we tread
on our future trek
across history’s living ground.
May this moment
under his charge
not be a speech
turned vapors in the wind,
let it be the rekindling
unto our pure love of nation
and patriotic pride
in that sacred red, white and blue banner,
allowing its emblem to ignite
the eagle in our spirits,
prepared to sail
through any challenge’s sky.
So it can be said
under future generations
how this was the crossroad in our heritage,
vindicating with valor and resolve
the truths our bills of rights
have entwined in the fabric of our minds.

This captured the gravity and historic-ness of the inauguration really well; it's easy to say "this is a historic day" – just the words – without relating the meaning... but you got the meaning, and the depth, and the true importance of the day across (with some really nice images as well). The last stanza and the last few lines especially were a really solid way to end it. NIce job!

I can appreciate the hope soaring on eagles wings. Not just words of dissipating vapors. And this piece in making reference to our US Bill Of Rights. A moving verse.

How about that?
I thought this was yours.

This sounds like an homage to humanity in general, in the sense that 'our' bill of rights are for everyone, everywhere, no matter the country you were born in. Hope lives for all...

Bringing back to our founding forefathers was a clever penning. I loved how you captured the heart beat of america. Blessings.

Bravo! How wonderfully penned! Let's hope all your countrymen pull together behind a man who is changing the course of history and the living ideal that the bill of rights is more than just words on paper.
Best wishes with this.
