The Gods Uday and Qusay, and the Grass Eater

Imagine Iraq
ruled by two new gods
named
Uday and Qusay
after a certain political party in the West
had its way

A starving Afghan reduced to eating grass
is hit in the head by a jar of peanut butter
that fell from the sky.
He continues to eat grass.

I've heard of humans smoking grass but I only know of animals eating it. And Peanut Butter falling form the sky was something I thought I dreamed. Maybe I should not fall asleep with my TV on MSNBC. LOL Maybe if we popped all the poppy over there the war would come to an instant halt. Either that or we'd have a bunch of people on both side bonding because of the high. Oh well, I know this poem made far more sense than my comment. LOL Love You ♥

What can I say to this...It certainly has some very deep meaningful images coming to my mind. Peanut butter I reckon would taste very nice spread on grass. I like it on celery! If a hand is given and not taken, what can one do. Try some jello with the peanut butter next time.

      Based on a true story...

yes, a news item described peanut butter jars falling from the sky, and the locals not having a clue... and they were starving and eating grass...

  • Different! I like the way you show we gave help and they just didn't take it. This is just what I have got from you poem so if I am wrong please don't take it wrong.

yes, that, and the cultural rift, they just did not know what was descending upon them... it must have been like an alien invasion...

  • Nice job. I enjoyed this piece. It gives just information to provoke thought without overtly bludgeoning the reader.

Well done. I tend to bludgeon.

lol "you tend to bludgeon"... I think writing poems has a biorhythmic element- it is rare when everything in a writer peaks (comes together) at once, and when it does, he doesn't even know it... this piece was a blind stab, like all the rest... heavier on message here... There is an x-factor, too, when a poem has a certain magical quality that can't be pinpointed... I don't think there is any way to methodize that, either...

Wow, that's a scary thought isn't it? ( of course unless it's all natural peanut butter I can't really
blame him.. have you read what they put in
peanut butter these days? grass would definately
be safer) not to say this senario isn't a sad situation!!! A well done thought provoking piece!!!!! me likes!!!
