Floral Suffocation

Flowers suffocated
by the selfish vines of the orchid -
they live no more to bloom,
yet were they ever alive?

These fragile paper flowers shall burn to ash,
for we no longer pretend they live,
and the orchid, parasitic beauty,
shall wither and die,
for it shall find no more to grasp,
to kill in its willingness to live.

Author notes

Orchids wrap their vines around other plants and those plants usually end up dying. . . They really are like parasites. . .
