Once Upon A Poet

Once in a great while

when the timing is just right

with all the stars aligned just so

as they glitter through the night

Someone comes into our lives

who enriches it, brings smiles

shares a love for each of us

as it reaches across the miles

So much we were missing

before he came along

with his gift of poetry

and within his heart a song

Softly, gentleness and warmth

of a new friendship he did bestow

touched us oh so gently

made us smile, his love to know

He sought to leave a bit of himself

and with his words we’ve grown

 his poetry echoing the sounds

of life, of love,  of worlds unknown

We happily sing with joy

in celebration of his birth

and of his poetry so fine

among the best there is on earth

For Hugh Wyles in celebration of his

seventy-seventh birthday, January 13th

Dee Garner

Yay King Hugh! Wonderful tribute to our friend. It is sad to see Hugh down in the dumps. I'll write him a Shocking Tale Of Horror! lol That would make him cry!

Beautifully penned from a loving heart, Dee. I'm pleased you're such a caring soul...we're running short of them these days, it seems. Hugh obviously enjoyed it. I spent my 50th alone, so I (kinda) know how it feels. Brava to the generous Spirit that holds the gifting pen!!! Wanda

    Dear Dee,

I may not have a birthday cake
    or Edna at my side,
although, each morning for her sake
    to the hospital I ride.

I may not have a party here
with friends to join in fun,
but thankyou for your verses, dear....
    I value every one.

Your words are very precious, Dee,
    because they come from YOU
and mean so very much to me
since most of them are true!!

To my first Favourite, with thanks, much love and hugs, XXX Hugh.
