Snowy dream

It was the winter of frustration,

anguish and bitter relief.

Cast down from the heavens

were sent my gentle plea, unity.

Softest snow fell ever so protectively,

a soothing sigh from the father almighty.

"Trust in me higher then fate,"

look beyond circumstance, event and deed.

Learning to trust in what we can't see

weathers the soul mightily.

One simple snowflake of purest peace,

encourages the flesh to step out in faith.

Doubt whispers aloud

"What if you fail".....

Luck cautions to mock

"What if you can not get up"

Second step of faith,

reaching out for help.

Inviting humility and courage

to stand firmly by our side.

So, I opened the door,

and what did I see...

but other brave souls...

struggling like me.

Slipping and sliding,

laughing, and cussing.

Helping each other

boldly get up, dusting off,

our sore bruised

buts.........

My third step of faith;

It isn't always up to me,

to understand circumstance, event and deed.

My snowy dream taught boldly,

faith, humility, and courageous trust.

What laughter and strength we can be

when we struggle together, embracing our unity.

Author notes

Contest prompt: snowy dream

I just watched the news....and the forecast for the year is not so good,
tough snowstorms lay ahead economically.
Perhaps the weather will pull us all out...of our comfortable homes
to help each other brave the stormy conditions.
I sure hope so.

storms...

    ♥ : )

This poem is so great on so many levels!
My mom and I just lost our jobs and it reminded me so much of this writing... for some reason, I don't know.
    Excellent job!

Well done, I was floating like falling snow flakes
softly toward the ground all covered with snow.
Lovely dream, indeed. Delight to read.

I hear ya..this was a tough write, I wrestled with myself
    to get it out...

very choppy not as smooth and clear as I would have liked.
I've been fighting with an insurance company knowing
    that something was truly amiss-wrong...
and today, the news revealed clarity.
My insurance company is being sued in another state
effectively for the fradulent and self regulated oversight.

The State of New York was just awarded 50 million
dollars in settlement...so...it's obviously time to open
the door and step out...joining the others
who are struggling with fradulent insurance co-pays
just like me. Sometimes life truly imitates the old
David versus Goliath story....perhaps I should have
wrote this with the metaphor SLINGSHOT.

I love the sentiments of struggling together and making things easier all around, good luck in contest. I must mention, though, that the first stanza bothered me a bit, the last line, 'were' seems to be out of place and I'm not sure what is meant by it. Just thought I'd mention that one jarring piece in a good poem.

    ears,

You were kind enough to read and comment on one of my poems, so I thought I would return the favor.

This is truly a beautifully written piece..... Vivid imagery and an excellent command of language.

    Well done.
