The red badge
most often described as courage
seeps deep within the land.
Whose mind was it
came up the phrase
'of courage' for this mark?
It has no merit
but what else does?
'Of cowardice'?
'Of pain'?
'Of love'?
'Of broken hearts'?
'Of callous imperfections'?
Truth is
tis nothing more
than blood seeped from the heart.
No fancies,
no tragedies,
no wishes made and lost.
Once broken it can be made whole
and broken once again.
With each break the skin will weaken
the bones brittle
the brain sing.
The pain made real
drives bodies to ecstasy,
begging for one more stain.

Ooo, I like this. The title sucked me in, and I was thinking to myself "Where could this go?" and I was not let down. This is an excellent piece, and I believe it will make a great finalist and possible trophy winner. Awesome job and good luck in my contest!
