Distance Fades

A lonely heart lies wounded and confused
By a glimmer of emotion previously abused
The twinge of ache that once visited
Now replaced with well-known misery instead

At first the pain’s unbearable,
No desire to get through the day.
The next day is not much brighter,
Clouded by the fog and the rain.
And yet the lonely heart keeps beating
with the breaking of each new dawn
to where the pain, it only lingers,
Vivid memories almost gone.

And it is this that is most saddening
To the lonely heart of one
Because while the pain, It may be easing
Oh the suffering,
The suffering has just begun.

Author notes

I am missing someone far away. I was just recently able to meet him for the first time. Now i must wait until summer to see him again. I do love him.

  • i could feel each line and the distance between two who love eachother... soooo hard.
i liked how this had a twist to the 'over time thoughts will fade'... showing that love can grow even in absence. enjoyed the read.

    Soooo sad!!!!

Wow the way you worded this I think is amazing! It's almost like its a break up thing, these words:At first the pain’s unbearable,
No desire to get through the day.
The next day is not much brighter,
Clouded by the fog and the rain.....that is what i love most about this, these words are like a calming of a storm....dark...lol i like it! Awesome job and your title definatly caught my attention if that wasn't a coincedince in itself!
    Great penning!!
