Love By The Moon

Her little pale face smiled up at the moon
She placed her hands up to her lips and blew
Then she tossed it out to the big round pearl
Saying, "That's from your little baby girl."

Mama came outside; took her by the hand
Told her it's late, and she had to come in
"But mama I told you I always do this."
"I send daddy love, by the moon, with a kiss."

"How do you do that, baby? Daddy is far away."
The little girl pointed into the starry array
"Daddy told me that you see the moon anywhere."
"I can tell him I love him through it way over there."

Her mother knelt down and hugged her so tight;
The stars and the moon shining down their light
And far away stood a man, in a wide open plain
Whispering softly aloud: "I love you just the same."

Author notes

Well, my friend was trying to help me get into the writing spirit again. I wound up coming up with something at random thanks to him. Hopefully this isn't too choppy-sounding. I admit it is a little probably. I don't know. It's my first in a bit. Give a girl a break - they can't all be winners. Lol.
------------------------
It's about a little girl whose father went away to another place. Maybe to war or for business? He told her he can see the moon anywhere. So to send him love and kisses each night before she went to bed, and he would do the same and he would get hers. So she did, but one night her mother gets a little agitated about it and tells her to come in and she explains why she's outside so late. It's kind of touching, really. Just think about it?

Please tell me what you think
