Fairytales Lost

affirmatively stubborn

I ignored

love's pouring heart
as if time never ended

lost inside my fantasies
of futile fairytales
plastic cinderella slippers
white knight's in flannel

It was that precise moment
I knew

I'd lost
my love

in January rain

  • This I like!

The last 5 lines of this work are atmospheric and make the whole piece come alive. The structure also steers the reader to pause exactly in the right places so that the impact on the emotions is maximised. After I read these last 5 lines I felt as though tears might be an appropriate acolade. This I like!

Very lovely and creative...the fairytales that never come true or that we seem to be looking the other way when they do...great imagery and metaphor.

    Thank you for sharing!

    Ahhhhhhh Yes

fantasies of fairy tales deceive many. It seems life flow easily to live in dream land, where life never ends.
Reality is real, with its pain, short life, sickness, stress, and pressures, all make realities less desirable to face. lol. Its the real life, all we have today, make wise use of it, it is a valuable asset, not to be wasted on dreams. Beautiful poem that touches the heart, deeply. May you be protected from the rain, even the January rain. While there is yet time, use it well, wisely, there are no tomorrows, in reality.
