I gave you my heart
But you didn’t understand
What you were holding
In the palm of your hand
You looked at me
Asking whatever is it for
My heart is meant to be
For you to adore
You smiled and placed
My heart on a shelf
Given not a trace
Or essence of yourself
Without a home to stay
Or nestled to a chest
That piece I gave away
Dust covered to its death

Oooh nicely done! Such a sad story. I don't like that feeling. My heart has been put on shelves then thrown off, only to shatter on the floor. Thankgoodness I have God to put the pieces back together!
