The Hospital Stay

Silence creeps slowly up the hospital walls.

The sedated patient is unaware.

...so nice to feel nothing...

The room has become a place of finality.

In the sanctuary, relatives cry and pray.

What will the world be like without this person?

Onlookers feel empathy.

Silence is broken as the last grasps for air

are gurgling.

Doctors and nurses are on the scene, stat,

but, once again, death leaves it's stench.

As usual,

the room is cleaned for the next patient.
