I dream upon this island shore
Where waves of melancholy roar
The salt of which does find it's place
Embedded in my wounded grace
Through rushing currents of lost time
Forgotten winds howl in my mind
To aimless thoughts in disarray
My purpose gently whisked away
Oh clouds, do let me hitch a ride
Upon your pillows let me glide
And take me where I'll kiss the sky
To live and breath in humble flight
Oh sun, do warm my tattered soul
To birth anew these faded goals
Please carry me away from here
This solitude - bereft of cheer
Or send to me an angel grand
To reach and take me by the hand
Upon her feathered wings of love
I'll rise to Heavens far above

non can compare
From the one-word title to the last line, this beauty of a poem, finds it's way deep under my skin. The language commands my undivided attention and the rhythm is impeccable. The metaphor of the island shore and it's melancholy roar, I simply adore! This speaks to me of one who has been hurt deep, perhaps more than once, to the point of an endless stinging feeling. If that be the case, who wouldn't want to hitch a ride on the clouds. Your rhymes are smooth and romantic.....a gal could get lost forever in poetry like this!
I enjoyed this immensely!
