Fences

Fingers scuttled like spider’s legs,
creeping with stealth imaginings
to grasp and sigh with daily ease,
breathing in conscious routine.

An unfamiliar rasping texture,
fingerprints scrape brazen surfaces,
severing from a village viewpoint;
I’ve stepped outside the box again.

A confusion like amber flashing lights,
is it a fog of thought, or a thought of fog;
like a trinket cursed to be an heirloom,
hung from the same old familial necks.

One bloated circular tyrant’s stare,
encircling a brood of blasé senses;
the rider has forgotten that he has a horse
that with vigour would jump these fences.

Prompt: Comfort Zone

The thought behind this piece, inspired by the prompt, is that being in your 'comfort zone' can feel like becoming trapped, closed in and either not having the courage or being unable to remember how to break out of it.

    Nicely done. We can't afford to get too comfortable in those zones, because if we do, there is no persoanal growth. Thank you for entering my contest.
