Friends, Romans, countrymen- lend me your eyes.

Feast upon this page, the conglomeration of my mighty, divine genius, the meeting place of my clever wit and tender soul. The goddess Minerva herself has graced me with the gift that I have chosen to bless you with, the gift of my poetry!

Some of you may think of me as the fearless (the Battle of Phillipi NEVER HAPPENED), cruel (those pirates needed to be taught a lesson- what better way then crucifiction?!),  dashing (the statues are pleasingly accurate), yet highly modest, Emperor (obligingly, of course)  of the Empire.
Yet few of you remember my tender, creative side. The side that comissioned the Ara Pacis; the side that wrote detailed descriptions (accurate, of course) of many important battles in our Golden Age of Peace. I even founded (the the Senates FULL PERMISSION, I swear by my beloved, divine father Julius Ceasar) the 'Poet's Circle'!

I want to be remembered as the loving, nurturing 'Pater Patrae', the father of our great Empire. The man who nurtured Livy to write his epic 'Aeneid'. The man just like you, who lived a life of simplicitas. How many other Senator's wives make their togas, right? Even if I had to decimate a few thousand men along the years, it has all been for the Empire. By reading my epic-style sonnets, I pray Hermes will send you the understanding behind my sometimes... misinterperated actions.


And remember, I found Rome a city of clay but left it a city of marble!

I totally related to your poem Swords. This Antony you wrote of, was he a friend of yours? I understand what its like to have a friend be like that, my BFF Vampina (her real name- dont question Dracula lovers!) keeps failing, but I think it has something to do with the brand of fishing line shes using.
