Showered gold's splendor awakes,
yearning the warmth of Apollo's touch;
Simmering petals blossom each dawn
whispering tales of mesmeric faith.
Caressing rays of Sun penetrate
into the Earth, just to meet her,
Enchanting scent of Sunflower wakes,
just to brace his passionate love.
In the dawn's dew, and in the noon highs
Sunflower warms, in sun-kissed delight.
As the dusk's calm lulls her to sleep,
yore the Sun sighs, and sinks in twilight.
Author notes
A poem about the love of the eternal sweethearts, the Sun and the Sunflower. It is also a metaphor for my love for my husband, the happiness we share when we are together (which are sunny days to us) and the sorrow and sighs when we are apart (which are nights to us).

Thank you for the kind comment and the contest. When I think of nature and love, I immediately think of the love between the Sun and the sunflower Not surprising, since my favorite flower is Sunflower and my husband's name means "Sun". So this poem is intended as a metaphor for the love we share.
