Tonight I gave my heart to you
bruised and battered
torn and blue
Set on fire like a silver and gold refinery
I can no longer look behind me
submitting myself wholisitic and new
like the fresh morning dew
I lay safely in your hands
like a dove or a lamb
For my heart awaits you
without hesitation
For you are the Lord
Prince of Peace
salvaging grace
misery released
so that we may grow completely
and not make the same mistakes again
until the next lesson is learned
leaving my heart humble instead
Author notes
There is nothing in this world worth holding on to - our purpose is greater when we are planted next to the Lord.

Getting There...
Thank you for commenting on this piece. I wish I could relive all of the emotions that drove me here although some were sad and helpless. I suppose I knew all along where my heart was and there was no compromising.... This has definately been a journey of rediscovering my faith in such a crazed world.

Excellent
Oh life lessons when learned does leave a humbled heart that is for sure. Seems as though I have had to learn so many things the hard way. Still learning too. What an excellent poem Lauren. Just the flow and some rhyme all was perfect. The message is so powerful and so very true. Thank you for sharing with me your gift to write poetry and to share some wisdom with me too. You also have a beautiful heart.
Wishing You Many Blessings
Much Love Always,
Kelle Marie

Life is learning lessons and experiencing what there is as we make our journey. Some lessons we need to learn and pass through alone while others require assistance from others but we are all on this journey called life. Mistakes require forgiveness and tolerance holding faith in belief and when it gets too tough for us to handle give it up and ask for His help....the answer will come to us may not be what we want but what we need.
It can be a very humbling experience but one from which we can learn and grow.
I feel so much of your heart penned within the lines. Your words flow with ease as you paint images with emotion that settle in thoughts as they linger giving rise for some reflection...life is for living
