One-EIghty

Missing image

I stand with two options before me

the word "insanity" comes to mind,

do I want to repeat old mistakes

or fervantly leave the past behind?


For the definition of the word

means that repeating mistakes don't work,

and when we expect different results

we turn into the "colossal jerk".


The word is emblazoned in heart and soul

those wasted years have long since been spent,

the choice is a complete one-eighty

to confess my sins and then repent.

 

"For I know the plans I have for you"

words spoken by Jesus Christ my Lord,

"plans to give you a hope and a future"

this promise is my double edged sword.


So now I choose the straight and narrow

my vows to Him I plan to fulfill,

He will never leave or forsake me

so long as I live within His will.

 

I confess the choice an easy one

though it is a long and bumpy road,

for He carries my burdens for me

no longer I heave  the heavy load.

This really needs some work but it is what came to me looking at the pic. I mentioned insanity because it says that we repeat the same mistakes over and over again yet expect different results... I choose to not do that anymore. I have done a 180 (not a 360, because if you turn around 360, you are right back where you started from) To repent means to confess and turn away from that sin. I choose the road less traveled.

Jeremiah 29:11 "for I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

    I agree with Kelly Marie....I have misssed your thoughts.....and since your return, you are penning incredible writes......I believe God is making sure all of the negative and junky stuff is not polluting your mind, and He is using you to talk to others......you AN's are valuable and Jeremiah was correct about your future......it look pretty and bright from here   .....as Sam says..>>>> 

     Refuse to compromise ourselves for ANY reason, and do ALL things unto the Lord.....Glory!

    This is great and I so agree with how you feel in which you wrote this poem Sis. Boy I've missed you and your desire to do what is right is one of the things that is so beautiful about you.     Way to go!

    Personally, I like your approach to the picture prompt; and, you are so right: if we intend to cease and desist our mistakes, we must make a 180 turn.

    I noticed only three things you might want to change: the first stanza should end with a ?; and this word is in error, waisted/wasted; and, "a long and winding road" contradicts "the straight and narrow" -- might want to rethink that one.

    Nevertheless, dear one, this is a great poem and, I feel, a wonderful reflection of meaning for the picture. So, I think it should garner the GOLD!

    True words. We need to adjust our mindset when we are living the same mistakes over and over. We need to surrender all to God. Refuse to compromise ourselves for ANY reason, and do ALL things unto the Lord. A wonderful write. Thank you for entering.
