Class Menagerie

I take two steps and freeze
Amused by those speckled leaves
My clothing traps a breeze
This hammock’d mind thought with ease
Pleased to the point of ecstasy

Filled to capacity

I imagine a drink from liquid maple trees
Would it run straight through me
Some puddles caught my eye
Rain’s trickling surprise
A release from the sky

I quizzed myself about its ripple-effect
With imbibed citizens wondering “what the heck”
What we did yesterday is a spent check
That’s when I twitched my neck
Wake up world—we’re at risk for brain wreck

Tensed, I gather my wits—

It’s better to “pay it forward” than to quit

Author notes

I fell asleep in my 'Thought Lab' so while I was there, I figured I jot something down before joining the rest of the world outside. (haha...only kidding). Thanks for the visit folks.

A natural wonder who writes of the wonder of nature. Very nice piece with serene imagery in thought waves rippling across the page. Lots to love about this write, I've read it a few times already. And your message gives purpose to the scene. Lovely...alby

Hey, nice avatar you got yourself there (smiling). Thank you very much for these kind words and amazing feedback. Of course, the poetic expression ain't 1/2 bad either (hahaha) - . Wow, "... read it a few times already"? What a terrific thing to do, thank you for it all, honestly. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it that much.

    OK Wow!

I either want the name of the company that made your thinking chair, or the designer of your "thought lab" -- I need both! This is both outstanding in its imagery, and in the deeper insight you have suggested in the final few lines. Very much worth a second and third read, my private criteria for excellent work.

lol...The 'Thinking Chair' company went out of business (all of the workers tried out their own products and became brilliant writers and philosophers) but the good news is that THEY are the same people who designed my "Thought Lab"!!! How about that? Their new name: "Backs In Lab, Poetic inc." and their motto: "Cheers-to-Thought in Thunken Chairs" (hahaha).

Thank you as always hawk. Your spirited comments rejuvenate me so much. So 'presto'! With a few pushes of my keys, you can now design your own "Thinking Chair" (ahh, I'm a card-carrying member with Gold status privileges...sssssh. lol). I'm so happy that you enjoyed this one too (and that it made in pass your private criteria bar).
