                           Symbolic Flight

I sat upon a mountain side

looked up to see an eagle fly

as he soared through the breeze

held his head high along the trees

Some prey he saw upon a hill

and quickly glides in for the kill

As I watched this beautiful bird

 Echo's

     I thought I heard

They spoke,"This is a bird we honor

Let no man trap him in a corner"

I looked around and was alone

On this mountain natives once roamed

Then I wondered what had I heard

Great spirits watching over this bird?

It is a symbol of our land

And will be free as is man....

thanks for reading

    wow!

this is totally beautiful, and the fact that it is about wildlife..the eagle in particular(one of my favorite, birds of prey) is a astounding sight to behold..I LOVE THIS WRITE.

I like the notion of the eagle as a symbol of freedom, but I'm not so sure about your last line "...And will be free as is man." Is man really free, or is he deluding himself? Food for thought, certainly.

    Good write,
    Bill
