zoned out

four walls built
with ignorance
shields reality
from a mind

false hope
cements destruction
of glass houses
shattering dreams

sees no further
than hours cocooned
in blanket moments
of smokey silence

self importance
lingers in bones
safe in eroded illusions

until the light clicked black

Denial ain't no river in Egypt. Those who seek control to contrive escapes from their fears often reap their own destruction. Feelings are not to be avoided, but embraced.

Your short piece captures much of the falseness of the fearful and pretentious. Good job.

    Love,
    Tom B.

Thank you Tom. Eventually fear will catch up and then it will be black and too late to change anything. Agree about the feelings, whether good or bad we must embrace them and move forward.
