and grew with each passing day.
We both became more smitten,
Innocent beauty you did convey.
Years of love you gave us
So much to be grateful for.
With your love you did caress,
today your new home you explore.
The pain and loss felt deeply,
even though I know it was time.
I no longer hear your sweet reply,
Your love has been sublime.
Your love brought us through twenty years
never once did you fail us.
How will I quench these tears,
Your body I long to caress.
We saw you leave our world today
but you will never leave our hearts,
For your safety we now pray,
and hold you always in our hearts.
Author notes
Troyias
This is my sweet molly she was 20 years and today we had to put her to sleep. she had a large tumor and fluid on her lungs. she was the best cat we have ever had. The tears will stop eventually but not tnow it's too soon.
Can you believe it I took this picture yesterday and she looks just fine and acted that way right up till the end.

...ok i like to parade myself as a "dark writer, aren't I scary" but right now you've got me crying like a baby. It is truly heartbreaking when you have to put an animal to sleep, although undoubtably you did the kindest thing, I have expericanced it a few times and it IS loosing a member of your famly. sorry for your loss, this was a lovely write.

First I would like to say how sorry I am for the loss of your beautiful cat. The loss of a pet is a terrible thing to experience. I hope you have many fond memories of this beautiful cat. Secondly the words are so moving. A fitting tribute to a loyal and wonderful freind.
Good luck in the contest.

our pets creep into our heart and bed themselves there just as deep as any person, they become a part of our lives and we share deep friendships that are often more deep and faithful than some of our human relationships, remember your friend with love and a smile my friend

I have my own dear cat (all black) whom I adore. So i can genuinely relate to this. It is good to know one can write about their pets with heartfelt emotion

Beautiful...
I know what its like to loose something even a pet. Its sad..yes, but we get to remember all the funny, stupid and not so stupid things they did, and there we have a barrel of laughs.
I had a dog once... Emma (a german sheperd)
still miss her like hell too, but then I remember once when in the dead of night, she came into the house cos we forgot to lock the door, and she crawled into bed with me...
I miss that.
