When a heart is given away.
Make sure where you place it,
Don't let it fall one day.
The treasure of love ,
So it will always stay true,
Talk to it, in a kind and loving way.
Never let the heart be put out on loan.
Nor should a heart with a friend be shared.
Leave it where it can get some sun.
Shelter it often so it won't fade or run.
Love it always, and keep true to it.
Never under your arm in your arm pit.
Never on your shoulder for feat it will drop.
Least in you pocket, of you sit it will get bent.
What if you forget if and it is washed away.
Don't even think of putting it in your shoe.
You must think of a safe place, not on your head.
I don't want to get tangled in your hair.
I placed this Love on a chain
Wear it over your heart.
Keep where you can always view.
The warmth of your body will keep it true.
So here is my heart, my Love coming to you.

Interesting
I was confused at first and didn't think it was about love at all. But as I read on and you mentioned the heart around the neck ... well I changed my mind. Thanks for sharing this with us and thanks for entering it into this contest. -
A beautiful thought and a beautiful poem. Your love will always be entwined with another's heart.
