Fond memories often comes to my mind
Of love shared during poverty stricken times
I didn't even know I was considered poor back then
I was surround by much love and many good friends
God Bless her, you see mom gave birth to eleven of us
Only eight survived believe me that was more than enough
Sometimes we were hungry but never really sad
For she loved us so, though not much of a provider I guess so did dad
This one unbelievable occasion I would like to share
is one that stands out expressing a mothers loving care
It's really quite a little simple thing
But to my heart much joy and smiles it brings
I remember my mother had one Three Musketeer candy bar
It was bigger back then but it still couldn't go but so far
My mother sliced that candy into nine slices if you can believe
And shared with all of us a taste of heaven if you please
Today I can't imagine how she held us all together so
It must have been pure love as my memories still show
Over the years reminiscing I get all sentimental and teary
She loved us so, by this tale you can see clearly
It is my belief that they don't make mothers like that today
Then again I pray that the need to do this has gone away
Knowing me I might have hid the candy until all was sleeping
Nah, she's long gone but even today her approval I'm always seeking

I think "more then enough" should be "more than enough" - other than that this is a beautiful poem of love for your mother
I really enjoyed the emotion behind the poem and it fits the prompt well
thank you for entering!
