A Star Fell

A diamond falls from bitter black
The ebony of the velvet-clad night
Plummeting downward spirals
Catching fading rays of soft moonlight

Waves of auburn flame cascade
Billowing over pale shoulders of grace
A silken ocean of russet currents
Framing the mask she wears as a face

Masquerade of petty truths
Stepping in time to no sound at all
Gleaming in the ivory of an inkblot
Listening in rapture as a star begins to fall

Dancing among sweet tongues of fire
The heat of the soul explodes in a cloud
Pulsing to a maiden's heartthrob
Enveloped in sunset's golden shroud

Whispers of daring shiver the silence
Misty shadows hold their breath in awe
A diamond falls from the cynical night
The frozen stares of life begin to thaw

Whilst waves of auburn flame cascade
Billowing over pale shoulders of grace
A silken ocean of russet currents
Frame the cold mask she wears as a face

And deep in the sunken twilight
To the tune of a thousand ghostly wails
A flaming soul rises strong and true
In the midst of haunting lies, to prevail

Hands down the best poem I've read in some time. I can see why you were snapped up by the publisher so quickly, milady.

It's an inspiration to a friend of yours that's feeling like a burned-out husk. Maybe it'll inspire him to flare brightly again and scorch a name for himself across the heavens.

    Excellent work, truly...
