Memories of Faces

or "Sometimes... faces"
written to the melody of "Three Pianos"
wpbiro.globat.com/music/wbiro_three_pianos_03_faces.mp3

{upright piano}

Sometimes...

{grand piano}

I see the wind blowing faces

remembering their day

grown so weary,
faces
lightened by brighter times;

faces…

Sometimes...
stilled pools turn sunflower'd shade

settling,
deep wells run 'neath cool vaulted

arching pathways
over bridge's wings,
resting…

Sometimes...
when night arrives on their faces,
in an endless sea of silent homes
grown in places,
gifts of colors spray
faces…

Sometimes...
moon whispers pause on their faces,
windows emptying,
streets and cafés cold and shivering
with the rain tonight,
and faces…

Sometimes…
while searching sweet and sad faces
I can catch myself tracing
gentle wind traces
through the poetry of
faces…

and sometimes…
when caught up in the invisible faces,
I'm clutching, vaguely hoping time
returns their faces,
marbled granite sheens
of faces…

Sometimes...

I see the wind blowing faces

remembering their day

grown so weary,
faces
lightened by brighter times;

faces…

Sometimes...
stilled pools turn sunflower'd shade

settling,
deep wells run 'neath cool vaulted

arching pathways
over leaning bridge's wings
resting…

Sometimes...
when night arrives on their faces,
in an endless sea of silent homes
grown in places,
gifts of colors spray
faces…

Sometimes...
moon whispers pause on their faces,
windows emptying,
streets and caf
és cold and shivering
with the rain tonight,
and faces…

Sometimes…
while searching sweet and sad faces
I can catch myself tracing
gentle wind traces
through the poetry of
faces…

and sometimes…
when caught up in the invisible faces,
I'm clutching, vaguely hoping time
returns their faces,
marbled granite sheens
of faces…

Author notes

remember to try it with the melody... (open your browser a second time and copy the link into the address bar) melody derived from a piece by Random Goldfish, which was derived from the music of an old Nintendo game- Mother 3/Earthbound 2... Theme 249- 16 Melodies by Keiichi Suzuki ( see/hear it on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz9o0rUuhaE&feature=related ) the three pianos are upright and grand, with electric in the background; the melody shared by flute and oboe, arrangement by me

    Excellence!

it's been so long since I've visited your page and I'm so glad I journyed here tonight, this was simply excellent all around .

Musical inspirations are my personal favorite and you've penned a treasure of vignettes to behold and be delighted by.

I won't paste a favorite passage cause I'd be placing the poem in it's entirety. It's like Life in a moving picture show, Awesome musing my friend!

    Let the ink flow!
    many blessings, Sandi

Well this is a complete package. It has "it" all.
    Beautiful poetry of longing passions,
artful in decor',and a musical score to boot!
Very intrical ,lyrical and magical in misty eyed thoughts of wishing.
    My personal favorite lines being,
    " Sometimes…
While searching sweet and sad faces
    I can catch myself tracing
    Gentle wind traces
    Through the poetry of
    Faces…"

    wow

this is incredible. at first i just read it by itself without the music just so i could focus on the words, but when i read it with the music the effect was totally different, a better different.
    this is amazing.
thank you so much for sharing.

  • the former stanza got me...

"when wrapped up in the invisible faces,
    I'm clutching, vaguely hoping time
    returns their faces"

...and then I read this portion and it pummeled me all together.

    Faces like whispered memories

bounces like an old game of pong or manual type writer
have you noticed all of us "oldtimers" are working with repetitive phrase venue
    Love this one

bounces like an old typewriter- I had to think about that one for a moment... (for I do remember the day...) that would make a good video- tying in emotions with the clack of the carriage return bar...

This strangely also works pretty well with the story of the game too...than again anything about love, friendship, and simple times would hit it right on the doorknob, haha! What's even stranger is there is huge obsession with sunflowers in the game and you've used sunflowers here.

But this poem is very lyrical, very pretty. It almost needs to be sung!

Ach! Thanks for the reminder (for you did it without actually trying)- I forgot to add the pictures I prepared for it... (something to do with fairies lol- but sad fairies...)

Ak! (Another horrible video game refrence) Well, I'll come back in a minute to see them than.

(I've just unraveled lately and let my endlessly dorky gamer chick side roam aimlessly.)

Yes, I just got crushed by Red Alert 3... so weary of war... (lucky guys can get weary of it in a virtual world...!)
