Akasha - 10 Years Old

My name is Akasha and I am ten years old,
I've been watching many die and the nights grow cold.

Men and Women pass my window, weapons in hand
and, when they depart I see bodies upon the sand.

My tears are like a thunderstorm, many they do fall,
and, I am simply angry at the sight of it all.

My Momma told me to run, she said love move towards the sun,
I hope we can be together when this tragedy is done.

So these days I roam looking for the light yet,
at this very moment, there is only darkness in sight.

I dream of my Momma's face as I scramble away from this place.
Sometimes I think I'd be better off if I were floating in space.

I am so young but, my soul it has become old,
the light is growing dim, I have forgotten what I was told.

So now I lay me down to rest, Lord please
tell my Momma that I tried my very best.

Tears were in my eyes as I read this poem
So much war is going on and so many children witness the horror of it...
I am hoping it will soon come to an end

Very touching, I really like the perspective of the little girl. It just makes it even more emotional.

This made me cry for all in wars today

So sad this write is and so true for so many today in this harsh world we live in. I so wish those who leads our countries would just once place their own families on the fireing line and if they were to be taken first all wars would come to an end . My heart is broken from reading this piece thast has such feelings and truth in its words for many families and children are feeling and living this today . It deserves the gold for its truth and pain so shown
