The Rose

The myth says there was rose
That lived in the forest wild
It was admired by one and all
Until there came a child

Who was curious about this beauty
And took its life so fast
Ran to the castle, presented it to his mother
And she knew it wouldn’t last

He kept it and watched it grow
Until it wouldn’t fit into any jar
Then dug up soil and planted it in the yard
It made a difference by far

But one day their came a man
Who said this tree had to go
The lil boy was heartbroken
To loose what he had sown

Then one fine day he was twenty-two
And took charge of the kingdom
His wife beheld a boy soon
Who was to offer him his freedom

One day his son set out to sow
A seed which he had found
He would watch it grow
Till the time he was around

But one day their came a man
Who said this tree had to go
The lil boy showed not a tear
And what was to happen he had known

He went to his father and told him the news
Memories flooded the king’s mind
He asked his son how he could not be sad
And how he could be so kind

His son replied, although I made it grow
I knew one day it would end
So I didn’t sorrow myself
Life is around the bend

We have to move on
And not brood over issues in the past
Because if we don’t value this gift of the present
Our happiness will not last

If the life of my tree was short
Than destiny must have written it
Because everything has to pass away
Everything has its limit

So I let it go and so should you
Because dwelling on the past won’t matter
Its long gone, and the future is to appear soon
So you might as well brood on the latter”

The king shocked of his son’s wisdom
Thought about what he had said
From then on he learnt to move on
And a happy life he soon led.
