From Darkness Out

I walk down the aisle that Fate had prepared
And felt on my skin the cold piercing air
It may have felt warm, but then that was rare
'Cause nothing in there seemed to have been fair

The wreckage I see all 'round the dark road
Have cost me somewhat my faith and my hope
I carry around on my back heavy load
While walking along the steep, dreary slope

Had Death been down there before I was told,
To fetch me where to my soul chose to go?
There may have been left a small speck of hope
I wished I could see the light from my woe

Amusingly now, I saw how it went
That Death by herself was like a good friend
She told me some things the people have spent
When Life was yet there, when Time was to mend

I listened in awe as we went along
I've left the dark road I walked through alone
I wasn't afraid; Death kept company
She led me to where the bright, white light shone

You haven't lost hope, she once clarified
You thought you'd get lost, but it was your guide
The load on your back will vanish in time
Please see that we found our way side-by-side

It's true what she said; I opened my eyes
The darkness behind was no longer seen
I'm sure that I've crossed the pain of what lies
In that path that leads to where joy had been

For Hope had been there in my every breath
To bring me to where my Faith willed to lead
The joy and the glory I've now gladly met;
I hear a sweet song that whispered, "You're freed."
