The Telephone Rings

Missing image
Sitting on my arse , i gaze at the phone.
It never alerts me,, guess im alone.

I pay rental bills, a waste of money.
Would be ok if someone phoned and said 'honey'

But wait its fine, a call from john in Spain.
Never thought i would hear his voice again.

Now aunt Pat's phoning here from Dubai.
Two family calls, think i'm going to cry.

On recollection brother Alan got through.
A couple of days earlier, he's honest and true.

Then Martin from the past phoned my old address.
He will call soon so i mustn't be depressed.

Silly how we yearn for a human voice.
Though not the salesmans, he's not my choice.

Lets have a good natter with the folks we adore.
Share the gossip, ... ''oh phone'' ...  please once more.

I understand this all too well...everyone txts now and though I HATE talking on the phone sometimes I prefer to tell a story or say something rather than type it.

Even though an Ocean separates us, I'd love to call you. Maybe when I get my own phone.
