Drained Empathy

Sterling poison echos through trembling bones,
as temptation breaks through loves barriers.
Thoughts of despair, crawl to you,
through bleeding eyes..
I'll miss you.

Rain-drops fall, environments shatter,
break,split, lacerate, into one million pieces;

Every one falling down,
as empathetic tears,
of worry.

Hands of ice, touch arms,
as imaginary fingertips play over my body,
Binding me to a final hug.

Limbs stiffen, choking on so many words,
screaming to come out,
All that whispers is,
Come home soon.

Author notes

this is about someone close to me who had ot call 911 to get help with no cuting himself or commiting suicide tonight, and although he said i made him alittle better, I still feel so guilty for not being able to hug him in person and tell him it will be ok.. but hes gone to get help and I just pray he will be ok..
Please get well Tim,.
I worry so much for you.

Aw, this is so sad! I'm sorry that you feel so bad but you care about him and that's what counts, right? I'm so sorry that I haven't been around much or I would have commented on this sooner. I hope that your friend gets better soon.

    Love always <3,

I agree with the commentor below me - your words are very haunting.

It is extremely difficult to see someone you care about go through this... I know it's painful. You feel helpless. I've seen both sides of the situation (been the suicidal person and been the friend watching someone I love self-destruct) - and neither is a fun place to be.

However, I think you've done all you can here. You listened, gave your heart out to him, and you even wrote for him! I know he must appreciate you so much.

Beautiful words. You're an excellent poetess, as always.

  • Your emotions are almost haunting in this piece. The are definitely stunning, that's for sure. Your imagery, as well, is very well penned and brings many different vivid images into the reader's mind.

    Excellent piece
and I hope your friend is okay

This subject is never easy to hear. He has gotten help and I hope he ca learn to deal with his problems instead of not dealing with them. Thank you for sharing your poem with me.

  • That was so heartfelt...I can relate to it, both being the one trying to call 911, and also being the one to hear about it from a friend who had the same problem.

A great poem, as always... <3

Beautiful write hunni, I am sure just knowing you are there will be of some comfort to him. The emotions here are perfectly portrayed, the only complaint I have about your writing is you don't do enough of it!

As i said online, i'm sure he'll be alright too. He knows that he's got your support so you are helping even if you feel like you can't.
