I have forgiven you
For all the times I thought you'd make me crack
Now I must move forward
And not ever look back
So I'll turn my face
Toward the sunshine of a new day
And let it embrace me
In a newer, safer way.
Sure I didn't ever
Return the blows
But you'll get what's coming to you,
And what that is, only God knows.
At times life's still hard,
And being without you can get rough
But being with you is even harder,
And this has made me tough.
So with a determined smile
I go out into life,
And now I face head-on the pain,
The joy, and the strife.
I have forgiven you,
For all the times I never did crack,
And I'm forever moving forward,
And never once glancing back.

I wish instead of moving forward....you would move out. lol. But that's just the overprotective bestie half of me talking.

Good job Rae. I really liked this. The imagery is really done well, and its very hopeful. I would like to say that the flow is rather tough, but all in all I liked it, the word choice is pretty good too. Thanks for entering and good luck sunnyday

the optimism in this poem and its rhyme is very encouraging... i know its hard with a rhyming poem, but i would have loved to hear more about what it is you forgave.

This is one of the most wonderful poems of forgiveness I have ever had the pleasure to read. Your hear must be kind to write such a poem.

This is a really good write with hope and just the right amount of reality to know it won't be easy, but you will win through. I hope this is just writers imagination and not a violent situation you have had to live through.

:)
Nice and hopeful. I feel the fading bitterness - I love the fact that you are brave enough to forgive. It makes you a wonderful person. A good poem and a nice read. -
nice job. forgivness is hard and sometimes we have everyday reminders which of course makes it harder. I look in the mirror and can't forgive myself so how hard it is to forgive others
