Big bear
braved barnacles
on its bare bum, basking
on the beach by the billowing
briny.
braved barnacles
on its bare bum, basking
on the beach by the billowing
briny.
Author notes
After studying the work of such Japanese poets as Basho and his haiku and tanka,
Adelaide Crapsey (1878-1914) 'invented' a form which she called 'cinquain' (see 'The Complete Works of Adelaide Crapsey 1911-1913) - an unrhymed quintet with a syllable count of 2-4-6-8-2.

Great read. Really well done! I'm a fan of alliteration, which you've done well here. Thanks for entering my contest. I'm honored to have you show your work here!

Paloszoo has asked me to co-judge with an eye to form so this comment is centred on form, my opinion of the rest won't count in the judging.
The form is perfect and the alliteration well done, the whole poem is great fun

I've often wondered how many Brits, or ex-Brits by migration, are members of AP;
Though Lancashire born and bred, I've been an Aussie now for just over 50 years.
Thankyou for your complimentary comments and for your very generous applause.
Best wishes from 'down-unde'.
