Smooth? What is smooth,
how does one describe it?
Is it the mellow glide
of a decent Chardonnay
sliding over an eager palate,
or the seamless meshing
of oiled gears
in a fine-tuned engine?
Perhaps it's the sheer
swish of nyloned legs,
or the eloquent
and polished phrases
of the sophisticated charmer
or the passionate poet.
Perhaps - but for me
it's the pure velvet
and golden tone
of jazz; the magic
artistry of Davis
or Coltrane;
the sultry angel
voice of Vaughan,
the flair of Fitzgerald.
Smooth? That's smooth!

I love jazz music - and this is a lovely poem in its admiration
the comparisons were wonderful, and the alliteration at the ending made me smile.

Smooth? Smooth is the ink of Bill's pen spilled along the lines of his many pages, of his many rhyme books like sketches to artists. Smooth is the clack-clack of keys, his keyboard transmit highs and lows in ways Morse never imaged his code would go. Smooth is half a world away... Write on, bro.

Methinks you have the style my friend. Harmony, in so many forms, can sooth the heart when so smooth. As for myself I always loved Nate King Cole and a smooth Stotch. PS. but oh those fine legs.
