Friends

Back in the day when Catholicism
Was rampant and habits were worn by nuns
Family moved to another parish
Away from his friends, it was not his wish
But he had no choice at the age of ten
The Catholic School had no room for him
He went to fifth grade at the public school
He did not like it as it was not cool
Though while he was there he made a new friend
Really great guy though he was Protestant
Same interests like exploring the swamp
As a new friend he was all he could want
Whenever he thinks of all his old friends
He always includes his God among them.

A different kind of sonnet you have penned here - we can all create our own, Senetiments well expressed in these lines; easy to read and understand what you are saying here.

    Thank you ~
Nice to see friends can put aside doctrinal differences to let friendship flourish ~ and having God at the center is always a good place to start.

  • I am trying to learn the art of sonnets and this one just makes that learning process all the more confusing for me as I thought sonnets required rhyming of all lines with the exception of the last two... yours appears to skip two lines then rhyme two lines all throughout... I don't know that I will EVER learn how to write a sonnet, everyones appears to be so VASTLY different!

As for the message within your poem, for that alone I leave you three claps as I appear to be unqualified to rate you on a sonnet.
