Live another day

lightning bolts
that streak the skies
are hotter than the sun
their vibrations explode
with crack so near
or rumble low and far

light travels
at 186 000 per second
one million times than sound
that's why we first

see its flash and then
hear its sound

so keep an eye at the sky
when flashes come and go
for rain will drench
you from the clouds
so wet you’ll have
to run inside

this makes me think
that some humans
crack and spark

although some rumble all day long

and, if they spark
then be aware
their bark might not be their bite

but, do take care
when there’s no flash
their rumblings might turn to war

the moral of the story is
to read the signs
both of nature

and of man
as these will assure
that you will live
to see another day!

This is a very apt comparison of nature and the human condition. I felt it read more like poetic prose than a poem, however. It would have been more effective to have "shown" more and "told" less. Thank you for your entry. Peace, Liz

    Amen!

This is an excellent piece, Frans. I especially like the comparison of the elements to that of mankind's behaviour; and, it always is good advice these days to keep our eyes on the clouds.

Well done and surely a winner!

    Luv and hugs, BonnieQ

    Excellent Poem

Well my friend you have penned a very interesting and informative poem. It is so true of some people. Love the moral of the poem at the end. Nice added touch. A great take on the prompt. A pleasure to read this morning. Sending hugs and smiles across the miles.Take care.

    Peace and Grace, Sandy
