like so many fingers
preparing for something H-U-G-E.
the moon \opens/ up like white ink on black paper
the buds, milking stars [nighttime charm bracelets]
blossom under. [ain't moonlight as good
as any sun?]

every leaf, every cloud - awake.
i lift the cold glass window, already fogged over by soft breath
peep out into the new year's velvet
