neither created nor destroyed
travels in clouds,
falls as rain drop,
moves on earth's surface,
percolating beneath ground.
carries dirt,
cleanses stains,
dissolves salts,
before joining ocean.
elixir of life
follows contours of gravity,
falling from heights,
splatter
but do not break,
flows spic and span through valleys.
while it flows
inks history on rocks
narrates story;
sullen and ferocious
of its long immortal journey.
harmonious with surroundings
fills into irregular vessel,
solid in ice,
liquid in water,
gaseous as vapor,
versatility personified.
quenches thirst,
rejuvenates earth,
cleanses self
comes back as rain.
