Clotheless Life

Naked and alone questioning myself:
the reasons my smile
could never mask naivety.

  I pained us both.

Hurt you not with my fist
but with my blinkered eyes;
tearing our world in two.

Perseverance engraved across
fractured ribs,
vulnerable heart encounters insomnia.

Grasp the solid, wizened hands
in the pockets of time's weather robes,
wrench backwards with all I have
and fall into your arms.

Here we sleep,
drawing eternal strength
from cotton clouds above
we lay in silence forever

       enshrined in self-made love.

    full of metaphor.

This poem follows the contests rules exactly. It is unique...I never thought of 'self-made' love before. My favourite is the 'pockets of time's weather robes." ... fascinating thought.

The last 5 lines leave me with a feeling of peace.

    Great poem, well done.
